Moving forward through a crisis

This has been a very challenging spring for athletic training programs and higher education in general due to the COVID-19 crisis.   By now, you have made it through the spring semester, teaching on-line and are planning for Summer and Fall classes.  The only certainty in our plans for the Fall semester is uncertainty. Will classes continue to be on-line? Will we be returning to clinical sites or will we need to continue with on-line and simulation. In these uncertain times, AT programs need to be very creative to teach clinical skills via distance education, using simulation instead of patient encounters and by July, implement the 2020 CAATE Standards.

Are you ready? Not sure where to start on your framework (Standard 2)  Are you struggling to incorporate the new core competencies (56-68) and curricular content standards (70-94)?   How is your IPE integration coming along?  Do you know how to determine your faculty clinical expertise (Standard 42)?    Are you transitioning to the master's degree, but don't know how to make your curriculum unique?   How will you attract prospective AT students to your program?

I can help!  Since departing my position as Executive Director of the CAATE in 2018, I have been busy building my own consulting service, largely dedicated to guiding AT Programs with their program goals and obtaining/maintaining accreditation.   If you need some guidance or direction with your AT program curriculum, accreditation, marketing, strategic planning, on-line education, or other related areas, please keep me in mind.  I have helped numerous institutions develop creative, contemporary and "compliant" programs.  If you need assistance with writing your self-study, I have assisted several programs with the writing of their self-studies  I also review self-studies prior to submission or if a program desires, I can perform a mock site visit (when pandemic conditions allow, or virtually until we are able to safely travel again).  I also facilitate strategic planning workshops for programs, departments, colleges, and associations.

This is a challenging time in Athletic Training Education.  You don't have to navigate these challenges alone.  I have more than 30 years of athletic training education experience and more than 10 years of accreditation experience that I would like to share with you to help you succeed.   I have tremendous flexibility in pricing and consulting packages to fit any budget.   Please contact me  if you'd like to learn more about my services.  Together, let's make your program successful!
